Flooding hits Swansea roundabout after heavy rain across Wales

Severe flooding in Wales has resulted in cars being submerged in a city roundabout, causing chaos for residents. Video footage captured a car navigating through the flooded Cwmbwrla roundabout on Carmarthen Road, a key route into Swansea. As a result, South Wales Police has taken the necessary steps to close the road and redirect traffic flow while South Wales Fire and Rescue Service is actively responding to multiple flooding incidents in various parts of Swansea, including Killay, Cwmbwrla, and Manselton.

Authorities have mobilized in response to the adverse weather conditions with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning for the entirety of Wales, effective from 20:00 BST on Sunday to 18:00 on Monday. Additionally, Natural Resources Wales has issued three flood warnings amidst the challenging situation. South Wales Police has indicated that the Cwmbwrla roundabout is entirely closed and is anticipated to remain shut down for an extended period, with traffic detoured via Pentregethin Road. The authority is also attending to a flood on Goetre Fawr Road in Killay, prompting road closures in both directions from The Black Boy Pub to the roundabout.

Motorists have been urged to seek alternative routes to minimize disruptions caused by the flooding incidents in Swansea. The challenges posed by the extreme weather conditions underscore the importance of preparedness and swift response from emergency services to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in the affected areas
