Motorbike gifted to round-the-world trip Nottingham theft victim

Two journalists, Isaac Ashe and Monika Plaha, from BBC East Midlands and BBC East Midlands Today reported on a heartwarming story about Yogesh Alekari, an Indian content creator who had his motorbike stolen during a round-the-world challenge in the UK. Alekari had travelled through 17 countries on his black, white, and orange KTM 390 Adventure before it was stolen while parked at Wollaton Park in Nottingham on August 28th.

After Alekari’s story gained international attention, the Off Road Bike Centre in Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire, stepped in to help. Alekari was gifted a new motorbike by the Off Road Bike Centre, which he collected on Thursday. However, due to his stolen passport and license, he will have to wait a few weeks before getting back on two wheels.

Alekari expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support he received, including offers of help, clothing, and replacement bikes. The Off Road Centre’s generosity left Alekari speechless, and he thanked them from the bottom of his heart for going above and beyond. He had meticulously planned his trip for four years, purchasing the missing bike in April before embarking on his journey through various countries in Asia and Europe.

Despite the setback of the theft, Alekari remains determined to continue his journey through around 30 more countries, aiming to ride south through Europe to Africa next. The Off Road Centre’s managing director, Benjamin Ledwidge, shared that they will be following Alekari’s journey closely and supporting him along the way. Meanwhile, Nottinghamshire Police arrested an 18-year-old man in Doncaster in connection with the theft and other offenses, but the stolen motorbike is still missing
