A mysterious street artist known as Banksy has unveiled a new mural on the side of the Royal Courts of Justice building in central London. The artwork features a judge in a traditional wig and black robe striking a protester on the ground, causing blood to splatter on their placard. While the mural does not specify a particular cause or incident, its emergence follows a recent London protest where nearly 900 individuals were arrested opposing the ban on Palestine Action.
Images circulating on social media indicate that the mural has already been concealed by large sheets of plastic and two metal barriers. Security personnel are now stationed outside the building to protect the artwork, situated under a CCTV camera. Banksy, who is based in Bristol, shared a photo of the wall art on Instagram, a platform commonly used by the artist to authenticate their work. The image was accompanied by the caption “Royal Courts Of Justice. London”.

Last year, the artist launched an animal-themed series in London, featuring nine pieces, including a depiction of a gorilla lifting a shutter at the entrance to London Zoo. Other notable works from this campaign included piranhas circling a police sentry box in the City of London and a howling wolf painted on a satellite dish in Peckham, south London. In the past, Banksy has also gained recognition for their artwork in the West Bank, such as the “modified Nativity” scene created in Bethlehem in December 2019, which juxtaposed Jesus’ manger in front of Israel’s separation barrier
