Elias, a 14-year-old boy from Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire, who has been homeschooled since the Covid pandemic, is set to attend university at Imperial College London in late September after excelling in his A-levels four years ahead of schedule. Securing four A*s and an A in his exams, Elias will be studying biomedical engineering at the prestigious institution.
Tutored by his older siblings Clara and Juliana, both current students at Imperial, Elias and his equally talented 11-year-old sister Ariel, followed a rigorous educational path that led them to academic success. Elias, who also obtained a grade 9 in GCSE English, expressed his excitement for the next chapter, stating, “I’m pretty excited and I’m also slightly nervous as well, but I’m looking forward to it, extremely.”
With three A*s in chemistry, maths, and physics earned last year, Elias further obtained an A* in further maths and an A in biology this year. Expressing his gratitude towards his supportive family, Elias credited them for their unwavering assistance throughout his educational journey. Ariel, on the other hand, achieved 9s in GCSE maths and chemistry last year, and continued her successful academic streak by securing 9s in further maths and physics, along with an 8 in biology this year.
Joining Elias on his academic journey, Clara and Juliana, both pursuing PhDs in chemical engineering at Imperial, have made preparations to accompany him to his classes and provide support. Initially, they did not plan to continue homeschooling their younger siblings, but witnessing their exceptional progress, they decided to accelerate Elias and Ariel’s studies. Balancing rigorous academics with recreational activities like board games and sports, the sisters are not only proud of the achievements but also hope to inspire and assist other talented students through part-time tutoring while pursuing their own studies
