Man on round-the-world trip gets multiple offers to replace stolen motorbike

A man who recently completed a round-the-world motorcycle journey found himself at the center of a heartwarming gesture after his bike was stolen in the UK. Yogesh Alekari, a 33-year-old from India, had traveled over 15,000 miles on his KTM 390 Adventure before the unfortunate incident occurred at Wollaton Park in Nottingham. The theft of his motorcycle, which carried most of his belongings valued at £15,000, left Alekari feeling devastated.

Despite the setback, Alekari has been overwhelmed by the support he has received in the wake of the theft. He has been offered donations including clothing and replacement motorcycles, with people from the UK, India, and the biker community coming together to help him. Expressing his gratitude, Alekari acknowledged the positive impact these gestures have had on him, saying, “I’m getting huge support from across the country, India, the UK, all the biker community.”

Prior to the theft, Alekari had embarked on an adventure spanning more than 17 countries, such as Iran, Nepal, China, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, before crossing Europe. He had set out on his journey in April, having spent around £20,000 on the bike and related expenses. Video footage from Wollaton Park captured the theft, showing the motorcycle being ridden away by culprits on moped scooters, leaving Alekari without his cherished possessions.

Among the numerous messages of support Alekari has received, one particularly notable offer came from the production company behind the Long Way Home TV series, featuring actor Ewan McGregor and TV presenter Charley Boorman. The company reached out to Alekari on Instagram, offering to lend him a KTM motorcycle used during filming. While Alekari remains hopeful that his stolen bike will be recovered by the authorities, he is deeply attached to it, expressing his desire to have it returned. Nottinghamshire Police, on the other hand, are continuing their investigations into the theft, with no arrests made and the bike still missing
