Know your numbers!

Know your numbers!

Do you have an understanding of your health numbers? Public health officials are urging individuals to “Know your Numbers.” High blood pressure is often symptomless, yet if untreated, it can lead to serious outcomes such as heart attacks or strokes. This inquiry is part of a yearly campaign to raise awareness about blood pressure and prompt people to undergo checks since it is the only means of assessing whether it is elevated.

National Health Service (NHS) guidance recommends undergoing a blood pressure evaluation every five years. High blood pressure is classified as readings above 140/90, or above 150/90 for individuals over 80 years old. Those diagnosed with hypertension are advised to monitor more frequently as per their doctor’s directions. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the campaign, and its focal point is to “find the missing millions,” with an estimated 47,000 Liverpool residents oblivious to their hypertension.

To become familiar with your numbers, individuals aged 40 and above can avail themselves of complimentary blood pressure assessments at local pharmacies. Additionally, various community events are scheduled for the upcoming week:
