Topshop, a once popular high street brand, is making a return after a five-year absence from UK stores. This comeback will see the brand making its products available in 32 John Lewis shops starting in February 2026, with the menswear brand, Topman, also being sold in six of these locations. The revival of Topshop comes after the collapse of Sir Philip Green’s retail empire led to the closure of all UK stores associated with the brand.

Following the purchase of the Topshop brand by online retailer Asos, the majority stake was later sold to Danish retail tycoon Anders Holch Povlsen. As a result, Topshop is now poised for a major comeback with its products currently being sold on the Asos website, and a standalone Topshop site recently relaunched. Despite the uncertainty surrounding whether Topshop would ever make a return to the High Street, these developments indicate a promising future for the brand.

Michelle Wilson, managing director of Topshop and Topman, expressed excitement at the prospect of bringing the brand back to physical stores nationwide. John Lewis will curate a spring collection of 120 pieces for Topshop, with plans to give the brand a prominent position in their stores. Peter Ruis, Managing Director at John Lewis, anticipates a strong customer response to the collection launch, citing Topshop’s affordability and multi-generational appeal as key strengths.

Topshop’s struggles during the Covid-19 pandemic, coupled with challenges in adapting to changing consumer habits and sustainability concerns, have prompted a strategic partnership with John Lewis. Retail experts view this collaboration as a mutually beneficial move that could revitalize both brands. However, as the landscape of high-street fashion continues to evolve, Topshop will need to navigate new consumer preferences and market trends to ensure its long-term success
