Graham Linehan arrested at Heathrow over his X posts

The co-creator of Father Ted, Graham Linehan, has recently found himself in the midst of controversy after being arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of inciting violence with his posts on X. After being taken to the hospital, he was released on bail pending further investigation. Linehan disclosed in his Substack article that one of the conditions of his bail is that he is prohibited from using Twitter. The arrest stemmed from three posts he made on X back in April, expressing his opinions on challenging the presence of “a trans-identified male” in a “female-only space.”

Upon disembarking from the plane, Linehan was met with five armed officers who promptly informed him of his arrest. The Metropolitan Police clarified that the arrest was carried out by officers from the MPS Aviation Unit, who are typically armed due to the nature of their duties at airports. However, it was emphasized that firearms were not drawn or used during the arrest process, reassuring the public of the controlled nature of the incident
