Five things we learnt about the Universal Studios UK plans

In Bedfordshire, plans are underway for a new Universal Studios theme park that could potentially offer some of the largest rides in Europe, covering an impressive 268 hectares (662 acres). After a period of public consultation, which recently closed, the government is now expected to review the proposal in the coming days. During the consultation process, several key details came to light that give a glimpse into what the proposed theme park could offer.

One unique feature of the planned UK Universal Studios location is the Entry Plaza, a space open to the public without requiring a theme park ticket. This area will host a variety of themed retail, dining, and entertainment experiences designed to transition visitors into the full park experience. If these targets are met, the UK park could attract more visitors than major international theme parks like Universal Studios Florida and Disneyland Paris. The park’s proposed location in Bedfordshire, away from any major existing attractions, will likely draw tourists from far and wide.

In addition to the thrills and attractions, the new theme park is set to create a significant number of jobs, offering opportunities in various industries from entry-level positions to specialized roles. Universal plans to directly create thousands of jobs that will increase over the years, while also committing to working with local colleges to provide apprenticeships. The employment opportunities extend beyond the theme park itself,
