However, by Wednesday night, there is a decrease in significant solar activity projected, diminishing the likelihood of observing the Northern Lights. The recent surge in chances for UK sightings is attributed to a rapid coronal mass ejection, which transpired late on a Saturday night.
Krista Hammond, the Met Office’s space weather manager, has remarked on the enhanced potential for aurora sightings extending farther south than usual on Monday night following the arrival of the coronal mass ejection.
