Drusillas Park in Alfriston, East Sussex, faced an unexpected closure due to a burst pipe, resulting in water supply issues for nearby homes. The park announced its closure for the day as it grappled with the lack of water on its premises. Despite the inconvenience, the park assured the public that provisions were in place to ensure the animals had access to sufficient water.

South East Water confirmed reports of water supply problems affecting residents in the Alfriston area, attributing the issue to a serious burst main in its network. Charles Healey, incident manager for South East Water, reassured the community that efforts were underway to locate and repair the burst main to restore normal water supply. He also mentioned that tankers were being used to inject water directly into the network to mitigate the disruption.

As a result of the water supply issues, South East Water promised to provide bottled water to customers on the priority services register. Additionally, Drusillas Park announced that all tickets for the affected day would be replaced, ensuring that visitors were not left out due to the unforeseen circumstances. The collaborative efforts of both South East Water and Drusillas Park aimed to address the challenges posed by the burst pipe and restore normalcy to the affected area
