A dramatic scene unfolded on the A14 near Bar Hill, outside Cambridge, as a lorry carrying 50 tonnes of straw burst into flames. Video footage captured by a passing car’s passenger showed thick smoke billowing from the burning vehicle, with flames reaching high into the sky. The incident occurred at around 16:00 BST on Monday, prompting the closure of both the eastbound and westbound carriageways as emergency crews worked to extinguish the blaze. The fire station commander on the scene described the situation as “incredibly complex”.
