UK weather: Country to bask in 30C heat on bank holiday Monday

The upcoming bank holiday in the UK is set to bring a return of 30C heat, with this summer expected to go down as one of the hottest on record. However, the warm weather is not here to stay, as the remnants of Hurricane Erin are predicted to bring wind and rain to the country for much of next week.

Despite the unsettled weather on the horizon, huge crowds are expected to attend London’s Notting Hill Carnival, Reading and Leeds festivals, and Creamfields in Cheshire over the weekend. This comes after the UK has already experienced four heatwaves this summer.

The Met Office has confirmed that this summer is on track to be one of the hottest on record, with temperatures soaring across the country. Unfortunately, those looking to enjoy the hot weather may face travel disruptions, with a strike on the CrossCountry network and engineering works affecting train services.

As the warm weather continues over the weekend, with temperatures reaching 24C on Sunday, Monday will see the arrival of the warmest temperatures yet. The remnants of Hurricane Erin will bring tropical air towards the UK, resulting in warmer temperatures in England and Wales. However, cooler and unsettled weather is expected to follow as the storm makes its way over the British Isles on Tuesday
