Everton fans urged to switch tactics – and use public transport

Everton supporters are encouraged to alter their game-day strategy by ditching their cars and utilizing public transportation to reach the newly inaugurated Hill Dickinson Stadium. The team is gearing up to take on Brighton on Sunday, August 24th at 2pm, with an expected audience of nearly 53,000 fans crowding the stadium for the first Premier League match at the venue.

Amidst the buzz of the potential game, the Liverpool Celebrates 2025 festival will be happening at the Pier Head from 1pm to 9pm on the same busy Sunday afternoon. Thousands of music enthusiasts are anticipated to relish the music and atmosphere of the ‘pop at the pier’ event.

In cooperation with Liverpool City Council, Merseytravel, Merseyrail, and local bus operators, a comprehensive transportation blueprint has been drafted to facilitate Everton fans in commuting to and from the stadium. Fans are advised to allocate ample time, plan ahead, and make use of the extensive public transport network inclusive of rail, buses, ferries, walking, scooters, and cycling.

To safeguard local communities and mitigate congestion, stringent parking guidelines will be enforced around the stadium. A Football Match Parking Zone will be activated within a 30-minute walking radius from the stadium, permit-only parking will be executed, and fans are discouraged from parking at the stadium. Blue Badge holders will have designated parking spots on Regent Road. Road closures will be in place for roads adjacent to the stadium like Blackstone Street, Derby Road, the Ten Streets, and parts of Great Howard Street. Fans are reminded to check transport operator websites and social media for updates, purchase tickets in advance, and allocate extra time for their travels
