BBC delayed Ozzy Osbourne film due to 'family's wishes'

The BBC made a sudden decision to delay the airing of a documentary focusing on Ozzy Osbourne’s final years out of respect for his family’s wishes. Originally set to broadcast on BBC One on August 18th at 9:00 PM BST, the documentary, titled Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, was taken off the schedule earlier on the same day. The network released a statement stating, “Our sympathies are with the Osbourne family during this challenging time. We are honoring the family’s request to postpone the airing of this special film. A new transmission date will be announced soon.”

Initially, no specific reason was provided for the delay of the documentary. The film was set to cover Ozzy’s return to the UK, his final concert in July, and his passing at the age of 76 later that month. The BBC later confirmed that the film was rescheduled and replaced with an episode of Fake Or Fortune? The documentary was originally intended to be part of a larger 10-part series called Home to Roost, chronicling Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne’s journey to restart their lives in Buckinghamshire. However, as Ozzy’s health declined, the series was condensed into a single-hour film focusing on the last three years of his life.

Described by the BBC as a “touching and uplifting portrayal of the concluding chapter of Ozzy’s life,” the documentary offered viewers a unique and intimate look at the Osbourne family, including Sharon, Jack, and Kelly. The decision to postpone the documentary came as it was scheduled to air less than a month following Ozzy’s passing, and less than three weeks after an emotional public appearance by Sharon and their children in Birmingham just before Ozzy’s funeral. The network is expected to announce a new broadcast date in the near future
