An allegation of drug use on the popular television show Strictly Come Dancing is currently under investigation by the Metropolitan Police. The Met revealed that they had received information regarding potential drug-related offenses and are currently conducting further inquiries to determine if any criminal acts have occurred. The BBC, responsible for producing the show, stated that they have established protocols and policies in place to address serious complaints that are brought to their attention.
This investigation by the Met was prompted after the BBC initiated their own inquiry earlier this month into accusations of drug use by two unnamed stars of Strictly Come Dancing. The Sun on Sunday published a report claiming that the alleged drug use by the stars was a topic of discussion among those involved in the show. To assist in their probe, the BBC has reportedly enlisted the services of a law firm.
Following the Sun’s report, it was revealed that the BBC had informed the police about the matter. A Met spokesperson confirmed that the force received the allegation on Tuesday, August 12. The BBC declined to comment on the ongoing police investigation, instead reiterating their commitment to adhering to established protocols when addressing serious complaints.
