Path with stunning sea views is Britain's favourite

The most beloved path in Britain for 2025 has been revealed as the route between north Cornwall and Devon. The Bude to Westward Ho! route was selected as the nation’s favorite after a public vote conducted by walking charity the Ramblers, with 1,000 paths initially nominated. Part of the South West Coast Path, which stretches for 630 miles (1,015 km) and became England’s longest National Trail in 1973, this particular section won the hearts of voters.

Jonathan Jones, the individual who put forward the path for consideration, expressed his deep appreciation for coastal paths and the calming presence of the sea. He shared how walking along this route 15 years ago had a significant impact on him during a period of personal change, bringing him mental clarity and a sense of lightness. The emotional baggage he carried seemed to dissipate as he traversed the path, leaving him feeling refreshed and uplifted.

Despite a close second place taken by a section of the West Highland Way near Loch Lomond in Scotland, it was Jonathan Jones who emerged victorious. In recognition of his nomination, he will be awarded £200 worth of Cotswold Outdoor vouchers, with each of the seven remaining finalists receiving a £50 voucher. The marketing director at Cotswold Outdoor, Lucy Sutton, congratulated Jones on his win and praised the variety of breathtaking paths across England, Scotland, and Wales that were highlighted during the competition
