Repair Shop's Jay Blades charged with two counts of  rape

The well-known host of the BBC show The Repair Shop is set to appear in court over the allegations next Wednesday, as confirmed by authorities from West Mercia Police. Jason Blades, 55, residing in Claverley, Shropshire, has been charged with the serious offenses and is scheduled to make an appearance at Telford magistrates’ court on August 13, 2025.

The rise of Mr. Blades as a prominent figure on British television can be traced back to the launch of The Repair Shop in 2017. The show, where members of the public bring in their cherished possessions and family heirlooms for restoration, quickly gained popularity and transitioned from a daytime slot to a primetime spot due to its success. Not only did The Repair Shop secure a National Television Award in 2023, but it also claimed a Bafta for its royal special that same year, featuring a clock and a vase brought in by the future King.

In addition to his role on The Repair Shop, Jay Blades has been involved in other television projects like Money for Nothing, Jay Blades’ Home Fix, and Jay and Dom’s Home Fix.
