Birmingham is gearing up to bid a final farewell to legendary musician Ozzy Osbourne as his funeral cortege is set to pass through his home city. Eight days after his passing, the Black Sabbath singer will be taken in a hearse through the streets of Birmingham on Wednesday, heading towards his private funeral. The event, funded by Osbourne’s family, will give the opportunity for fans, friends, and family to pay their respects to one of the city’s most iconic figures.
The procession will see Osbourne’s cortege travel down Broad Street, passing by the Black Sabbath Bridge where fans have left touching tributes and messages. Accompanied by the Bostin’ Brass Band and other local musicians, the cortege will make its way through the city as fans gather to say goodbye to the man who played a significant role in shaping the global heavy metal genre and proudly represented Birmingham.
Broad Street will be closed to through traffic for the event, with buses and trams being diverted, and stewards will be present to assist visitors. Authorities have advised those planning to attend to arrive early, use public transport, and follow safety guidelines. For those unable to join the event in person, a live stream of the Black Sabbath bench will be available online for viewing
