Prime Minister Keir Starmer is set to meet with Donald Trump at his Turnberry golf resort in South Ayrshire for discussions on Gaza and potential trade deals. This meeting comes after Trump recently finalized a trade agreement with EU Commission president Ursula von der Leyen. The leaders are expected to cover topics ranging from the implementation of the UK-US trade deal to efforts for a ceasefire in the Middle East and putting pressure on Vladimir Putin to end Russia’s conflict with Ukraine.
Following their discussions at Turnberry, Trump and Starmer will make their way to Aberdeen for another private engagement. Trump, who has been enjoying his time playing golf in Scotland, will also be opening a new 18-hole course at his Menie estate in Aberdeenshire. Additionally, First Minister John Swinney is scheduled to meet with Trump to address matters such as trade and increasing business ties between the US and Scotland.

This deal sets US tariffs on European goods at 15%, a significant drop from the previous 30% levy that was set to take effect in August. Trump is expected to return to Washington on Tuesday and has plans to return to the UK for an official state visit in September
