Maguiresbridge murders: Police issue fresh appeal for information

Police in County Fermanagh are seeking information regarding a silver Mercedes car in connection with the tragic murder of a mother and her two children. Vanessa Whyte, 45, along with her 13-year-old daughter Sara Rutledge and 14-year-old son James Rutledge, were shot at their residence in Maguiresbridge. Detectives are specifically interested in any sightings of a car matching the description in the area between Clones Road in Newtownbutler and Maguiresbridge on Tuesday evening.

Det Ch Insp Neil McGuinness urged individuals who may have captured dashboard camera footage in the vicinity to reach out to the authorities. The investigation is currently ongoing, and the police are diligently working to unravel the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event. The incident occurred in a rural setting approximately 75 miles west of Belfast and eight miles from the largest town in County Fermanagh, Enniskillen.

Tragically, two of the victims were pronounced deceased at the scene, while the third victim succumbed to their injuries later at a hospital. A male individual, who is a resident of the same household, is currently receiving treatment for severe gunshot wounds at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. Officially, no arrests have been made, and it is not expected that any will occur at this juncture.
