In a horrific double murder case, a man has been convicted of killing two individuals and disposing of their remains in suitcases on Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge. Yostin Mosquera, 35, mercilessly murdered Paul Longworth, 71, and Albert Alfonso, 62, while residing at their flat in Shepherd’s Bush, London, on 8 July 2024. Mosquera carried out gruesome acts of decapitation and dismemberment before freezing parts of their bodies and transporting the rest in suitcases to Bristol.
The jurors at Woolwich Crown Court were exposed to distressing footage of the “terrible, brutal events” as confirmed by Judge Mr. Justice Bennathan. Following the guilty verdict, the judge ordered a psychiatric evaluation of Mosquera and scheduled a sentencing hearing for 24 October. Mosquera’s heinous crimes shocked both the court and the public, leading to a swift decision by the jury in delivering the guilty verdict for the murders of Longworth and Alfonso.
According to eyewitness accounts, Mosquera engaged in extreme sexual activities with Albert Alfonso, with whom he had first interacted online in 2012. The Colombian national visited London to meet Alfonso and Longworth in 2023, coinciding with the relationship between Alfonso and Longworth turning into a civil partnership. Although the couple eventually split, they remained close friends. Subsequently, Mosquera fatally stabbed Alfonso during a videotaped sexual encounter during his second visit to London.
Following his gruesome actions, Mosquera was shown dancing and celebrating on camera despite the heinous murders he had committed. Prior to the calculated and premeditated killings, Mosquera devised a plan to dispose of the remains by discarding the suitcases off Clifton Suspension Bridge. However, he miscalculated his strength and ended up leaving the suitcases on the bridge instead. The case has left a lasting impact on both the investigating authorities and the loved ones of the victims as they struggle to come to terms with the brutal tragedy
