Four remain in hospital after Somerset school coach crash

The A396 Cutcombe Hill crash remains under investigation, according to a police spokesperson. Meanwhile, Minehead Middle School, which caters to students aged between nine and 14, was closed on Friday. Mourners gathered at the school gates to pay their respects and leave tributes in the wake of the tragic event.

Laura Mackie, the school’s head teacher, was present among those laying flowers at the site. She expressed her thoughts, “I’m thinking of my staff team who are amazing, dedicated, and all of our wonderful students that have been affected and impacted by this awful incident. It’s just been horrific.”

Residents in the community have shown their support by setting up several fundraisers, which have collectively raised over £40,000 to aid those impacted by the crash. A service for grieving and reflection took place at St Andrew’s Church in Minehead before the school is set to reopen on Monday
