Bradley Murdoch: Man who murdered British backpacker Peter Falconio dies

The passing of Bradley Murdoch, the man responsible for the murder of British backpacker Peter Falconio in 2001, has been confirmed due to throat cancer. He was 67 years old and was serving a life sentence at a prison in Alice Springs, located in Australia’s Northern Territory. The news of Murdoch’s death was shared by the Northern Territory Department of Corrections, stating that he died at Alice Spring Hospital’s palliative care unit on 15th July, a day following the 24th anniversary of Falconio’s killing.

Despite his demise, Murdoch’s refusal to disclose the location of Peter Falconio’s remains remains a significant issue. The Northern Territory Police Force expressed regret over Murdoch’s death without ever revealing crucial information regarding Falconio’s body. Murdoch’s death will undergo investigation by the Northern Territory Coroner, according to officials. In 2005, Murdoch was convicted of murdering Falconio from Yorkshire, but he never disclosed the location of the body.

Peter Falconio was tragically shot and killed on a remote highway near the Northern Territory town of Barrow Creek, approximately 300km north of Alice Springs in July 2001. Murdoch fatally shot Falconio and proceeded to assault Falconio’s girlfriend, Joanne Lees, who managed to escape and seek help. The Falconio family continues to endure grief due to Murdoch’s silence, denying them the closure they have long sought.
