The troubles began when police were called to an incident at a Starbucks cafe in Terminal 2 arrivals where Mr. Amaaz reportedly headbutted a customer. Subsequently, PC Zachary Marsden and two other officers approached Mr. Amaaz at the car park pay station area to arrest him. Mr. Khan alleged that the force used by PC Marsden was unjustified, disproportionate, and unnecessary. Despite this, PC Marsden maintained that his actions were professional and within the required standards of a police officer. He reiterated his belief that his conduct on the day of the incident was appropriate.
PC Marsden reported receiving a call about a fight outside Starbucks involving two Asian males, one of whom allegedly headbutted a customer and fled towards the car park. When asked about his handling of the situation, PC Marsden expressed regret that he was unable to communicate with the suspect in the blue tracksuit before being attacked. The trial also revealed that both brothers, Mr. Amaaz and Mr. Amaad, from Rochdale, Greater Manchester, deny the allegations of assaulting the police officers. The proceedings are ongoing in court
