A group of musicians stepped in to entertain Eurostar passengers stuck on a train that had broken down for over eight hours. The unexpected gig took place on the 07:52 BST Brussels to London train when it came to a standstill outside Guînes, France. Oli Steadman, a member of the band, recounted the tense moments as the train came to an emergency stop. Passengers were left stranded with no official announcements, causing confusion and frustration amongst them. The band decided to play a setlist that included a rendition of “The Only Way Is Up” by Yazz, adapting the lyrics to reflect their situation.

The experience served as a reminder of the interconnectedness of people and the importance of unity during difficult times. Eventually, a replacement train arrived, and Eurostar assured passengers that compensation would be provided for the ordeal. Stornoway, which formed in 2005, has continued to create music, with their latest album marking a successful comeback after a six-year hiatus
