A rare Hulk stretch toy from 1979 is set to be auctioned off in Hertfordshire with the potential to sell for up to £5,000. Excalibur Auctions, based in Hertfordshire, revealed that this Marvel character figure is one of only 30 known examples of the original Hulk stretch figure still in existence. Created by toy-maker Denys Fisher, this unique piece comes directly from its original owner.
Jonathan Torode, from the auctioneer in Kings Langley, expressed excitement over the opportunity to acquire one of the rarest stretch toys in existence. The toy was manufactured in Thorp Arch, West Yorkshire, and was exclusively sold in limited quantities within the UK. The green-skinned Hulk figure was originally owned by a child whose mother had connections to someone working at Denys Fisher and was able to purchase one of the first figures off the production line.
The figure not only comes with its original instructions but has also never been put up for sale since it was initially purchased in 1979. Housed in its original cardboard packaging, which still bears a handwritten “number one” on the flap, the toy is described as being in mint condition despite a few tears in the packaging. With the added bonus of excellent provenance, collectors are expected to show worldwide interest in this unique piece. The auction house highlighted that the vibrant yellow packaging has not faded over the years, and the original chalk dust on the figure indicates it has remained untouched and unplayed with post-production. The estimated price for this rare Hulk toy ranges from £3,000 to £5,000 at the upcoming auction on 26 July
