A circus in Fife was disrupted by a fire during a live performance, leading to firefighters being summoned to the scene at the Big Kid Circus in Glenrothes after 19:00. The incident occurred just after the start of the Kingdom of Kong show, which features a 30ft tall animatronic gorilla, beginning at 18:00. Attendees were promptly evacuated from the main tent as black smoke billowed from behind the big top circus tent, although no injuries were reported during the incident.

Following the fire, a spokesperson from the Big Kid Circus assured that an investigation into the cause of the fire would be conducted in collaboration with local authorities. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service dispatched two fire engines to the Warout Playing Fields to extinguish the blaze. Police Scotland has been reached out to for further comment on the matter.

The evening performance where the fire broke out was the fourth out of a planned 10 shows in the town. Previously, the family-friendly circus had toured other locations such as Motherwell, Cumbernauld, and Falkirk. The circus has scheduled future performances in Balloch, Kilmarnock, and Carlisle throughout the summer holidays. The incident at the Big Kid Circus serves as a reminder of the swift response and cooperation necessary to handle emergencies in live entertainment settings
