A tragic quad bike accident in Greece has left DJ Kai Roberts in a coma after sustaining a serious head injury. The 24-year-old from Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, was working in Zante when the accident occurred on a coastal road. His brother, Corey Roberts, 18, rushed to Greece with their family upon hearing about the incident and the severity of Kai’s condition.
Corey shared, “My brother is my idol. Everyone loves him. He’s well known and everywhere he goes, everyone loves him. He’s just a massive character. He’s got the biggest smile in the room.” Kai, who was a passenger on the quad bike driven by his friend, was immediately taken to a general hospital in Zante but later had to be airlifted to the Greek mainland for further medical attention.
Despite the challenges of receiving updates on Kai’s injuries due to restrictions on sharing medical information over the phone, his family remains hopeful for his recovery. Kai, who works in a dairy factory, had been fulfilling his dream of DJing in Zante and had been set to return home on 1 July. His girlfriend, Kya Gillane-Heywood, emphasized how happy and fulfilled Kai was while pursuing his passion in Greece.
In an effort to support Kai’s family with travel, accommodation, and medical expenses, Kya initiated a fundraising page which has garnered nearly £6,000 in donations. Additionally, Pure West Radio in Haverfordwest, where Kai hosts a music show, is organizing a fundraising event to further assist with raising necessary funds. The community’s outpouring of support reflects the impact Kai has had on those around him and the hope for his recovery
