This year, the Summer Reading Challenge is back, and it’s calling all young book lovers to dive into a world of imagination. Liverpool City Council’s Libraries team is excited to launch The Reading Agency’s 2025 Summer Reading Challenge, focusing on the theme of Story Garden – Adventures in Nature and the Great Outdoors. Starting on Saturday, 5th of July, children aged 4-11 are encouraged to visit any of the 15 Liverpool libraries, explore new books, and embark on a season filled with creativity, fun, and outdoor excitement.
Filled with captivating illustrations by the talented artist Dapo Adeola, Story Garden offers a gateway to a realm of stories, creatures, and nature-inspired escapades. Children participating in the challenge can grab free activity packs, attend nature-themed events, and borrow hand-picked books that will keep them engaged and curious about reading throughout the summer break. A specially curated booklist will include picture books, early readers, middle-grade titles, and dyslexia-friendly books to cater to a variety of interests and reading levels.
As children progress through the challenge, they will have the opportunity to collect special stickers and rewards to celebrate their reading journey.
