However, brace yourself as the heat is set to make a comeback quickly, especially in central and south-eastern regions of England by Wednesday with temperatures soaring back into the high twenties.
By the week’s end, some locations in eastern England may even witness the return of another heatwave. Despite the cooler feel on Monday, where temperatures are closer to the seasonal average of 17C to 24C (63-75F), blustery showers and sunny intervals are typical traits of a British summer. Wednesday will see the westerlies shift to a south-westerly flow, ushering in hotter weather across parts of the UK, particularly in the Midlands, eastern, and south-eastern England where temperatures could reach 26C to 29C.
The rising temperatures and increased humidity may lead to heavy and thundery showers overnight in eastern areas. As the week progresses, Thursday will bring slightly lower temperatures, but hotter conditions could make a comeback for some regions towards the end of the week. While the Midlands, and eastern and southern England may experience temperatures rising to 26C to 30C (79-86F), it may not linger long enough for an official heatwave, as per the Met Office’s criteria.
With Glastonbury opening its gates on Wednesday, festival-goers can expect a fine day with temperatures reaching 25C.
