BBC radio presenter Martha Kearney has been made a CBE for services to journalism and broadcasting

However, for some, the honours system is seen as controversial. In response to the latest list, campaign group Republic said the whole system should be scrapped.

“The honours system is flawed and in urgent need of abolition. It is time we stopped handing out peerages and medals to friends of politicians, civil servants, and celebrities,” the group said in a statement.
