The UK has experienced a long-term reduction in strikingly similar patterns to what’s been witnessed in Brazil, with the trend often linked to improvements in public health and social welfare, which means people are less likely to turn to crime.
But what really happened in Brazil, and what we can take from it, will be a point of much debate in the criminal justice field for years to come.
