At the Old Bailey, three young women have admitted to the manslaughter of a 75-year-old man following a violent street attack captured on a mobile device. The victim, Fredi Rivero, was assaulted in Islington, north London, on 27th February and tragically passed away in the hospital the following day. Mr. Rivero, originally from Bolivia, was targeted near a bus stop on Seven Sisters Road by the group of teenagers, aged 15, 16, and 17, who proceeded to physically assault him.
The attack included pushing, shoving, kicking, and punching Mr. Rivero, with one of the assailants recording the incident on her phone and snatching his glasses. Law enforcement officers were able to recover CCTV footage depicting the assault, showing the eldest girl delivering a blow to Mr. Rivero’s head, causing him to collapse. Authorities were alerted to the altercation around 23:30 GMT and upon arriving at the scene, discovered Mr. Rivero unconscious with a severe head injury and in cardiac arrest.
