Originally from Hertfordshire, Stern moved to the US in 2007 and has a history of covering protests and riots globally. Despite taking precautions like wearing press credentials and carrying a camera, he was still injured during the coverage of the recent protests in LA. A medic treated his wound on the spot by removing the bullet from his leg and providing emergency care. Stern is now recovering in a local medical center after undergoing surgery for his injury.
