A teacher, 46, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for pretending to be a teenager online and soliciting indecent images from young girls. Simon Clark, from Ellesmore Port, Cheshire, was working at Alun School in Mold, Flintshire, when he posed as a 14-year-old boy and messaged 26 girls aged between 10 and 15. His crimes were uncovered in January 2023 when a mother found explicit messages on her 12-year-old daughter’s laptop.
At Chester Crown Court, it was revealed that Clark, a father of two, used the alias Jamie_jones6968 to communicate with the girls. Despite claiming to be a schoolboy in England, his IP address was traced back to him. Authorities discovered numerous messages exchanged with the girls, some of whom were under 16, along with requests for indecent videos.
Cheshire Police commended the courage of the victims for coming forward, labeling Clark as a sexual predator who abused his position of trust. Judge Simon Berkson described the offenses as a parent’s worst nightmare, emphasizing the calculated and manipulative nature of Clark’s actions. The teacher, who has lost his job, marriage, and unsupervised access to his own children, will serve eight years in prison with an additional four years on license.
An NSPCC spokesperson condemned Clark’s behavior, highlighting the long-lasting impact of such abuse on the victims. They stressed the importance of providing support to all children involved in the case and called for social media platforms to take stronger measures in protecting young users from predators like Clark
