The recent murders of two Scottish men in a Spanish bar are currently under investigation by the Spanish police, who have stated that there is no evidence to suggest a connection to an ongoing gang war in Scotland. Eddie Lyons Jnr and Ross Monaghan were fatally shot at Monaghan’s pub in Fuengirola on Saturday evening. Both men were associated with the Lyons crime clan, which has been involved in a series of violent incidents along with the rival Daniels gang in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Despite speculation linking the murders to the gang feud, Police Scotland released a statement asserting that there is no indication of the shooting being planned from Scotland. Lyons, 46, and Monaghan, 43, were gunned down by an unidentified assailant at the bar before fleeing the scene in a car. Monaghan’s pub, located on the seafront, is a popular spot for tourists and expats in the area.
The incident occurred during the screening of the UEFA Champions League final at Monaghan’s bar. Fuengirola’s mayor, Ana Mula, has urged for increased police presence to combat organized crime-related violence in the region. Mula emphasized the need for specialized police officers to address the escalating crime situation, stressing that it is a top priority for the community and the city.

Operation Portaledge, which is looking into a suspected gang feud in Scotland, has led to the arrest of over 40 individuals linked to the recent criminal activities in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Speculation connecting the events in Spain to the ongoing investigations in Scotland has been deemed unhelpful by officials from both countries
