The reintroduction was a collaboration between the park, Gorilla Doctors and the Congolese Wildlife Authority, with support from the U.S.-based charity Global Wildlife Conservation.
The gorillas were rescued by authorities in the DRC in 2019 during a sting operation to catch wildlife traffickers. They were then cared for in a Gorilla Doctors facility before being released into the wild.
