The bird, known as “Bomber Harris”, had been creating havoc by attacking around 50 individuals in Flamstead, which even led to a man being hospitalized. Fortunately, the hawk was captured last month and is now under the care of falconer Wayne Housden, who has been training the bird since then.
Wayne Housden expressed relief that the situation has come to a positive conclusion, mentioning that the hawk has noticeably mellowed down. The falconer intends to showcase Bomber Harris at the Flamstead Scarecrow Festival in August and eventually plans to release him to fly freely come autumn, with hopes that the hawk will return. Mr. Housden also disclosed that the non-native South American species of hawk appeared to be a captive-bred bird that had likely lost its original owner, as indicated by the worn-out leather tags on its feet, suggesting it had been roaming freely for over a year. Despite not being contacted by anyone claiming ownership of the bird, Mr. Housden emphasized his commitment to providing a secure and caring environment for the hawk to prevent any further neglect
