Lead singer Caleb Followill of Kings of Leon is facing a setback after breaking a bone in his heel in what he describes as a “freak” accident. As a result, the band has made the difficult decision to cancel all upcoming UK and European shows. This includes performances at Cardiff’s Blackweir Fields and a headline slot at the Lytham Festival in Lancashire this summer.
The injury occurred while Followill was playing with his children, resulting in him shattering his heel. He underwent emergency surgery and is expected to be unable to travel or perform for at least eight weeks. In a statement, the band expressed their regret over the situation and announced the cancellation of their festival headline shows in June and July.
Despite the disappointment of having to cancel their upcoming performances, the Grammy Award-winning rockers remain optimistic. Followill took to social media to share details of his injury, admitting that it was a “big bummer” given the excitement and preparations for the tour. He also mentioned that the band had been working on new music that they were planning to debut during the shows.
While the circumstances are not ideal, Kings of Leon are determined to make the most of the situation and continue their work in whatever capacity they can. Followill’s injury may have put a temporary halt to their tour plans, but the band is hopeful that they will be able to return to the stage and connect with their fans soon
