A tragic incident occurred in Brent, north-west London, where a 43-year-old woman and three children lost their lives in a devastating house fire. The emergency services responded to the blaze in Tillett Close, Stonebridge, around 01:20 BST. A 41-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder, according to the Met Police. In addition, a woman in her 70s and a teenage girl were taken to the hospital, with their conditions currently undisclosed. The fire affected two terraced three-storey homes but was brought under control by 03:25, as reported by the London Fire Brigade (LFB).

Upon receiving reports from neighbors, eight fire engines and approximately 70 firefighters from various stations across Wembley, Park Royal, and Willesden were dispatched to extinguish the flames. Despite initial misinformation from the police about the victims, it was confirmed that a woman and her two children were tragically rescued from the property but declared deceased at the scene. Supt Steve Allen, from the Met’s local policing team in north-west London, characterized the incident as extremely tragic, expressing the shared grief and condolences for all those impacted by the fire.

Leader of Brent Council, Muhammed Butt, conveyed their deepest sympathies and prayers for the families affected by the heartbreaking event. The council promptly set up a rest center nearby and ensured that evacuated families received the necessary support. Alongside the London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police, the council pledged full cooperation and assistance in the ongoing investigations into the origin of the fire. Emergency services are expected to remain present in Tillett Close as further inquiries are conducted throughout the day. Dawn Butler, MP for Brent East, also shared her devastation over the fatal fire and extended her thoughts and prayers to the affected families and friends.
