Tenby crash: Man denies killing six-month-old girl

A 34-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to charges of causing the death of six-month-old Sophia Kelemen in a tragic accident that occurred in a multi-storey car park. Flaviu Naghi denied two charges, including causing Sophia’s death by dangerous driving and causing death by careless driving while unfit through drugs. Baby Sophia, from the Leigh area of Manchester, was struck by a car on the ground floor of the car park in Tenby, Pembrokeshire, on January 2. She tragically passed away a day later in a hospital in Cardiff.

During a brief hearing at Swansea Crown Court, Mr. Naghi, of Rondini Avenue, Luton, Bedfordshire, only spoke to confirm his name and enter his pleas. The prosecution was represented by Tom Crowther KC, while John Hipkin KC served as the defendant’s legal counsel. A trial date has been set for June 2, and Judge Catherine Richards has released Mr. Naghi on conditional bail until then. The trial is expected to last a week as the case proceeds through the legal system.

Following an inquest opening at Pembrokeshire Coroner’s Court in January, it was revealed that Sophia’s cause of death was an “intracranial haemorrhage” resulting from a road traffic collision. The tragic incident has left the community in mourning and raised questions about road safety in car parks. As the legal process unfolds, the family of Sophia Kelemen continues to grieve their loss and seek justice for their beloved baby girl
