The failed attempt to oust Shah was led by Kamran Ghafoor, head of the Oldham Group, who sought to rally opposition groups against her. Despite his efforts, Shah was able to garner enough support, with 31 out of 58 council members voting against the motion of no confidence. The intervention of the Failsworth Independents played a crucial role in ensuring Shah’s survival as council leader.
Shah expressed her commitment to important initiatives such as regeneration and serving the residents of Oldham.
