A man in Edinburgh was attacked by a masked gang in what appears to be a targeted incident related to an ongoing organised crime feud that has been escalating since March. Four or five men exited a grey Land Rover Discovery and proceeded to slash the 54-year-old victim on Pitcairn Grove around 21:20 on Thursday. This assault marks the third incident at the property, following a deliberate fire set to the front door last month, as well as two vehicles being set ablaze outside the residence on 8 May.
Law enforcement is treating the recent attack as attempted murder and has confirmed its connection to a series of assaults, shootings, and firebombings that have occurred across Glasgow and Edinburgh. The victim, who was taken to the hospital, remains under medical care, although authorities have not disclosed specifics regarding his condition. Reports indicate that a bladed weapon, potentially a machete, was used in the assault on the victim.
Investigators have determined that the Land Rover involved in the attack traveled eastward along the M8, potentially at a high speed or erratically. Authorities are urging any motorists who were on the motorway around the time of the incident to reach out to the police’s non-emergency line. The suspects involved in the attack were all reported to be wearing balaclavas and dark attire. Detective Superintendent Paul Grainger remarked that the assault was targeted, and investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible. Motorists with dash cams are encouraged to review their footage, as it could provide valuable information for the investigation.
The feud has also been linked to other violent incidents, such as an attack at a garage in East Kilbride earlier this week. Three men clad in dark clothing and face coverings allegedly assaulted two other men in Wilson Place, with a blue Audi possibly utilized during the assault being found on fire later that evening. Authorities have made over 30 arrests in connection with these crimes
