Gorillaz, the virtual band, marks 25 years since its inception with the unveiling of a new exhibition called House of Kong, scheduled to make its debut in London this summer. Located at the Copper Box in London’s Olympic Park, the exhibition will run from August 8 to September 3, operating daily from 10:30AM to 10PM. House of Kong promises to provide a glimpse into Gorillaz’s artistic evolution over the years, offering a journey through the band’s history of mishaps, musical creativity, and pioneering virtual techniques.
The exhibition draws inspiration from Gorillaz’s mythical abode, Kong, and explores the four virtual personas that lead the band: Murdoc Niccals, 2D, Russel Hobbs, and Noodle. Described as an unprecedented exhibition, House of Kong traces the band’s origins back to the release of their popular track ‘Tomorrow Comes Today’ in 2000 that catapulted them into the virtual realm. Gorillaz revealed on Instagram that the gates of Kong will open this summer for the first time, urging fans not to miss this limited-time opportunity and to secure their tickets soon.
In addition to the unveiling of the exhibition, Gorillaz announced that they will stage four exclusive live performances at the Copper Box Arena during the exhibition’s duration. The live shows are scheduled for August 29, August 30, September 2, and September 3, with more information on the limited-capacity events set to be disclosed in the near future. With tickets available to House of Kong, fans can witness this unique experience in person and catch a glimpse of the trailer
