Millisle: Attempted murder arrest after car collides with pedestrians

Following an incident in County Down, a man has been taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder after a car collided with several pedestrians in Millisle. The event occurred on Main Street outside a licensed establishment shortly after 23:00 BST on Saturday. Two individuals were rushed to the hospital to receive treatment for severe injuries, as emergency services and law enforcement swiftly responded to the scene.

Witnesses observed the vehicle in question turning around and driving past the licensed premises once more before fleeing the area. Law enforcement managed to locate the vehicle a brief while later in Walkers Lane, Millisle, where the suspect was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and several driving offenses. The individual remains in police custody, with Main Street currently closed to motorists who are advised to find alternative routes.

Detective Inspector Oonagh Ryan of the Police Service of Northern Ireland noted that the investigation is in its early stages and appealed for anyone present at the time of the incident or in possession of dashcam or doorbell footage to come forward and aid detectives in their inquiries.
