American singer Chris Brown was taken into custody in the United Kingdom after allegedly being involved in a bottle attack at a nightclub in London in 2023. The arrest took place at a hotel in Manchester during the early hours of Thursday. Brown was held on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm to music producer Abe Diaw at the Tape nightclub in Mayfair.
The Sun newspaper was informed of Brown’s presence in the UK on Wednesday, prompting them to notify the Metropolitan Police. A spokesperson for the Met confirmed that a 36-year-old man is currently in custody in connection with the incident at the nightclub. Requests for comments from Brown’s representatives have been made.
According to a Met Police spokesman who spoke with BBC News, the arrest took place shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, May 15. The incident in question occurred at a venue in Hanover Square on February 19, 2023. Detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit are leading the investigation.
Mr. Diaw, the reported victim, recounted the alleged attack to The Sun in 2023, claiming that Brown struck him on the head with a bottle and proceeded to punch and kick him while he was on the ground. As a result, Mr. Diaw sustained injuries to his knee, requiring hospitalization and the use of crutches upon discharge.
