This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week, taking place from May 12 to May 18, focuses on the theme of ‘Community’. It emphasizes the essential role that our communities play in promoting positive mental health and overall wellbeing. Throughout the week, the Neighbourhood Team of Liverpool City Council is organizing various free activities at Newsham Park, aimed at bringing residents together through enjoyable and engaging experiences.
Participants are invited to join in games, creative sessions, and have the opportunity to connect with local services and community groups that promote wellbeing. All events are free of charge and will be held at the Bandstand area next to Prospect Vale. On Wednesday, May 14, there will be a Mindfulness Session from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm followed by ‘Sway with Ray’ Dance session from 1:45 to 2:45 pm.
Thursday, May 15, will feature a special event called ‘Going on a Bear Hunt & Family Picnic’ for children under 5 years old from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon. On Friday, May 16, attendees can participate in Chair Yoga from 10:00 to 11:00 am and enjoy a performance by the Philharmonic Ensemble from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. The week will culminate in a Community Fun Day on Sunday, May 18, at Gardner’s Drive, L6 7UN, near the café from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
