Despite taking precautions like washing hands and using hand sanitizer after the visit, Michael began displaying symptoms of illness while in Malaga. Concerned, Gareth and Kate sought medical attention promptly, leading to Michael spending three days in a hospital. The family returned to Wales, where Michael tested positive for cryptosporidium. Though Gareth and Kate also experienced mild symptoms from the infection, Michael has since fully recovered.
Kate expressed regret over the incident, feeling that more information should have been provided about potential risks at the petting farm sessions.
