Watergate launches mix series with recording of legendary club’s final set

Watergate has recently debuted a mix series showcasing archived set recordings from the renowned Berlin nightclub, known as Watergate Archive. The inaugural mix released features the final set recorded at the venue’s closing party on January 2, 2025, by Uli Wombacher, also known as Metro, who is the club’s co-founder and resident DJ.

The iconic Kreuzberg venue shuttered its doors at the beginning of 2025 after 27 years of operation, attributing the closure to financial challenges such as inflation, the energy crisis, escalating costs, and the exorbitant rent in the area. Metro describes the final recording as a heartfelt mix of personal favorites, club anthems, and classic tracks with a few beautifully imperfect transitions, all delivered in a DJ booth engulfed in emotions, hugs, tears, and tropical humidity following 48 hours of continuous music.

Included in the mix are tracks from esteemed artists like Floorplan, Paul Johnson, La Fleur, Denis Sulta, and Cajmere. This announcement comes on the heels of Watergate’s plans for a comeback with a series of open-air events titled Watergate Open Air (DON’T STOP THE DANCE) at Sage Beach Berlin. Be sure to give a listen to ‘Metro – The Final Set @ Watergate 02.01.2025’ for a taste of the magic captured in that moment
